This 2 day virtual program includes some general updates of diabetes and the impact of the disease on the feet and lower extremities.
According to Diabetes Canada, following a lower-limb amputation, people with diabetes not only suffer the clinical and psychological consequences of limb loss, but also have a five-year mortality rate of 50%.
“If it’s predictable, it’s preventable!”
Various risk assessment tools will be discussed. The role of the nurse in comprehensive footcare assessment, ulcer prevention, footcare management and health teaching will be emphasized.
Prerequisite – Footcare certificate.
